Dear Stress…
I’ve finally did it. I have finally gathered the courage to break up with…STRESS!!!
Yeah…that’s right…I’ve finally gathered up the courage to break up my long term relationship with stress. I’d like to say that I’M DONE and had enough! I don’t think it’s going to work out between us. I was fed up of always being drained of energy and feeling the effects that stress had in my body and life.
One of my Missions is to help others THRIVE instead of simply survive. This is why I’ve finally gathered the courage to break up with…STRESS!!!
I have personally experienced symptoms that affect so many of us working in a fast-paced, demanding, high-impact environment; so I understand first-hand how the side effects of stress can inhibit the human body. But I had the courage to breakup with stress and I want to help you do the same.
I know easier said than done, but we have to try… It’s about time, don’t you think?
3 Simple tips to help you break-up with stress
1. Take slow, deep breaths:Let the air completely fill your lungs, and resist the urge to exhale quickly before you’ve fully inhaled
- Close your eyes and centre yourself
- Take 3 deep breaths (in through your nose, out through your mouth)
- Focus on your breathing and heart rate
Mindful breathing will place you in the present moment and provide you with a calm feeling to get you back on track.
2. Go for a walk: Did you know that aerobic exercise of any kind has the power to calm rattled nerves and improve bad moods?
A UK study found that walking through green spaces could put the brain into a meditative state. So go outside and surround yourself with the beauty of nature.
3. Drink more water (Stay Hydrated): Here’s a general formula to follow: Your body weight ÷ 2 = amount in fluid oz required
E.g. 200lbs ÷ 2 = 100oz ÷ 8oz = 12.5 cups
- You’re likely to get more dehydrated when you’re under stress, because your heart rate increases and you’re breathing more heavily, thus losing fluid.
Note: For every cup of coffee consumed your body needs 2 cups of water to stay balanced
So next time you’re feeling stressed, simply take deep breaths, go for a walk and make sure to keep hydrated with lot of water.
At the end of the day we can eat as healthy as we want or exercise as often as we are able to, but if our bodies aren’t absorbing these nutrients, we are not restoring balance. I believe it’s all a matter on HOW we CHOOSE to deal with what is given to us that determines the outcome of our lives.
Who’s gonna join me? Who’s ready to take that step and break up with STRESS???
“There are always doors of possibilities if you are open to them. Be brave and take that first step. You will never feel ready and there is no perfect time to take action than now.”
To your Health,
